Scenario

In some rare cases, special and/or accented characters may not be displayed as expected when the message is received after a signature is appended.

Reason

The most likely cause is that the character set in Microsoft Outlook is not set to send outgoing messages in Unicode (UTF-8).

Resolution

Configure the character set in Microsoft Outlook to send outgoing messages in Unicode (UTF-8).

To do this:
  1. In Microsoft Outlook, select File > Options.

The Outlook Options window is displayed.
  2. From the menu, click Advanced.
  3. Within the International options section, select the Automatically select encoding for outgoing messages checkbox and select Unicode (UTF-8) from the drop-down.

Set the field to Unicode (UTF-8).
  4. Click OK to save the changes.
